Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@amtenv.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Asbestos is a mineral that was commonly used in building materials such as insulation, flooring, roofing, and textured coatings, especially in older buildings. It can become a health concern if materials are damaged or disturbed and fibers become airborne.

Lead is a heavy metal that was commonly used in paint and other surface coatings, particularly in homes built before 1978. Lead exposure can be harmful if lead-containing dust or paint chips are inhaled or ingested, especially for children and pregnant individuals.

In California, an asbestos survey is required before any renovation or demolition activities that could disturb building materials, regardless of the building's age. This helps identify asbestos-containing materials so they can be managed safely. Buildings built before 1978 are also likely to contain lead-based paint, and testing is strongly recommended before work that may disturb painted surfaces. Professional inspection and sampling help protect occupants and support proper planning.

No. AMT Environmental provides inspection, sampling, air monitoring, and reporting services only. We do not perform asbestos or lead removal or abatement.
